Mary Hill enters her second year at Voorhees University as Dean of Students and Senior Woman Leader (SWL), bringing more than 20 years of progressive leadership experience in collegiate athletics administration.
Hill joined Voorhees following a distinguished tenure at Delaware State University (DSU), where she served as Senior Associate Athletic Director for Internal Operations and Senior Woman Administrator (SWA). During her time at DSU, she also stepped into the role of Interim Athletic Director, providing strategic leadership and oversight for all 18 Division I athletic programs.
While at Delaware State, Hill successfully negotiated and oversaw a $1.3 million athletic facility renovation project that included new turf installation and a resurfaced track. She also implemented the university’s first fueling station and comprehensive nutrition program to support more than 350 student-athletes.
As Senior Associate AD/SWA, Hill played a key role in securing the NCAA Accelerated Academic Success Program Grant for limited-resource institutions. She chaired and co-chaired several signature departmental events, including revitalizing the Athletic Hall of Fame as Chairperson — restoring alumni engagement, membership, and contributions. She also co-chaired the Delaware Diamond Extravaganza, recognizing excellence in women’s athletics and education.
Her oversight responsibilities included Title IX compliance, gender equity, sport supervision, and service on numerous campus-wide committees. As advisor to the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), Hill guided student-athletes in meaningful community engagement efforts, including Samaritans Feet, Habitat for Humanity, Foster Kids Christmas Celebrations, Project Life Movement, Toys for Tots, Relay for Life, Angel Tree, campus clean-ups, and other service initiatives at both the local and national levels.
Throughout her career, Hill has served in several national and conference leadership roles, including:
-
Vice President of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC)
-
Chair of the MEAC Senior Woman Administrators
-
MEAC Co-Chair for multiple conference championships
-
Member of the NCAA Division I Volleyball Committee
-
Member of the NCAA Nominating Committee
-
Graduate of the NCAA Leadership Institute for Ethnic Minority Males and Females
Before transitioning fully into administration, Hill served as a softball and volleyball coach at South Carolina State University, mentoring multiple All-MEAC student-athletes, Arthur Ashe Award recipients, and an NCAA statistical leader. As an administrator, she has also overseen community engagement, academics, media relations, CHAMPS/Life Skills programming, sport supervision, and SAAC, while serving on institutional judicial, registration/enrollment, and housing committees.
A graduate of Florida A&M University with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice, Hill was a standout student-athlete, earning All-MEAC and All-NSWAC honors. She was a member of the 1987 and 1989 MEAC Volleyball Runner-Up teams and the 1988 MEAC Volleyball Championship team. In recognition of her accomplishments, she was inducted into the Florida A&M University Sports Hall of Fame.
Hill holds a Master of Science in Rehabilitation Counseling from South Carolina State University and is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
