In a gripping encounter at Godbold Center on November 6, Voorhees University's men's basketball team suffered a slim defeat against Columbia College in their regular-season match-up. The final scoreboard read Voorhees University 85, Columbia College 87, tipping the win to the visiting team despite a closely contested game.
The match began on a high note, with Voorhees marching ahead to secure a promising position with a halftime lead score of 44-42. However, as the game progressed towards the final buzzer, Columbia managed a narrow victory, leaving the Voorhees Tigers to ponder what might have been.
Voorhees boasted notable performances from several players.
Daethan Harris led the group with an impressive 29 points, five rebounds, and two steals. Supporting him,
Bryce Wilson contributed 12 points and five rebounds. He was followed by
Keshawn Evans, who added 13 points, five rebounds, and a vital block, contributing significantly to the team's effort. Other players like
Keyshaun Fleetion and
Umar Lawson also delivered crucial plays that kept the team competitive throughout the game.
Despite their second loss in a row, which has left their season record at 0-2, the Tigers show promising signs of potential improvement.
