On December 11, 2024, the Voorhees University Tigers faced a challenging road game at The Harp Recreation & Commencement Center in Young Harris, GA, where they were defeated 81-53 by the Young Harris College Mountain Lions in a regular season men's basketball encounter.
Voorhees University struggled to keep pace with the Mountain Lions from the outset, trailing 42-33 by halftime. Despite efforts to close the gap, the Tigers were unable to overcome the Mountain Lions' strong performance, ultimately falling by a 28-point margin. Young Harris College's victory was marked by a solid defense and effective scoring that left the Tigers searching for answers.
Dylan Magloire led the scoring for Voorhees with 8 points, followed by
Bryce Wilson and
Keshawn Evans, who each added 7 points. Wilson also contributed significantly with 2 steals and 2 rebounds. The Tigers showed resilience but were stymied by turnovers and an aggressive Mountain Lions defense throughout the game.
The Tigers, now standing at 2-7 overall and 0-3 in the conference, will soon face Philander Smith University in the HBCUAC Conference Pod held at Wilberforce University in Wilberforce, OH, on December 13, 2024. This next game presents an opportunity for Voorhees to revise their strategies and seek improvement after a tough loss.
