In a nail-biting showdown at the Alumni Multiplex Center, the Voorhees University Tigers men's basketball team secured a hard-fought victory against the University of the Virgin Islands Buccaneers with an 82-77 score after overtime on December 14, 2024.
The game, marked by intense competition and stellar performances, lived up to the expectations of a high-stakes conference battle. Voorhees University and the Virgin Islands ended the regulation time locked at 72 points each, setting the stage for a dramatic overtime resolution.
Keshawn Evans led the scorers for the Tigers, contributing a remarkable 27 points and grabbing 18 rebounds, followed by
Daethan Harris with 16 points.
The overtime period was filled with strategic plays and pivotal moments, including
Alonzo Johnson's vital three-pointer that eventually sealed the win for Voorhees University. The game witnessed multiple lead changes and saw the Tigers stepping up with high-pressure free throws that clinched their 3rd win of the season, improving their record to 3-8 overall and 1-4 in the conference.
The Tigers look to carry this momentum into their next game against Wiley University in Wilberforce, OH, continuing their journey in the college basketball season.
