Voorhees Women Dominate Fourth Quarter to Defeat Paine College, 76–55

By: Norman O'Neal

Augusta, GA — November 15, 2025 — The Voorhees University women's basketball team delivered a commanding road victory Saturday afternoon, closing the game on a 23–5 run to defeat Paine College 76–55. Behind a breakout performance from senior forward Kierra Diggs, the Tigers turned a tight three-point game entering the fourth quarter into a convincing double-digit win.

Voorhees led 53–50 to start the final period, but Diggs quickly took over the game. She scored 14 of her game-high 33 points in the final quarter, attacking the paint relentlessly while finishing an efficient 14-for-19 from the field. The Tigers overwhelmed Paine inside, outscoring the Lions 46–8 in the paint and dominating the glass with a 51–19 rebounding advantage.

Alongside Diggs' explosive outing, junior guard Shykiera Brown turned in one of the most complete performances of the season. Brown posted a 12-point, 14-rebound double-double, adding 5 assists while controlling the tempo on both ends. Her defensive rebounding helped ignite Voorhees' transition game during the pivotal fourth-quarter surge.

Paine stayed competitive through three quarters thanks to strong perimeter shooting. Guards Ayva Tillmon and Leia Brown combined for eight three-pointers and 32 total points, keeping the Lions within striking distance. But Voorhees' smothering defense clamped down late, holding Paine to just 1-of-13 shooting in the final period.

The Tigers also received meaningful contributions from their supporting cast. Zaniyah Snow added 7 points and 5 rebounds, Bryah Henry scored 7 points off the bench, and Kaelin Davis brought energy with 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Their depth proved crucial as Voorhees pulled away decisively in the closing minutes.

With the win, Voorhees improves its momentum in November play, showcasing a balanced attack, interior toughness, and late-game execution. The Tigers will look to build on Saturday's dominant finish as they continue to assert themselves heading into the heart of their schedule.
