Coach R. Shawn Roundtree is a native of South Carolina and has more than two decades of experience in the basketball industry. American Public University granted him a Bachelor of Science in Sports Management, and the American Council on Exercise (ACE) certified him as a PT. Recruited while a high school student-athlete at Denmark-Olar High, he competed alongside Larry Davis, a former All-American guard at both the University of North Carolina (UNC) and the University of South Carolina (USC), and other Division I prospects.

Roundtree was instrumental in establishing several South Carolina high school records during his team's extraordinary 1991 basketball season, including the most points scored in a game with 123, eight games with scores exceeding 100 points, and an average game score of 91. Unfortunately, a series of injuries terminated his playing career, which instigated a profound metamorphosis in his fervor for the sport of basketball. As a result of this transition, he began to mentor, instruct, and develop youthful and ambitious athletes.

Coach Roundtree began his coaching career as an assistant coach for middle school basketball teams before progressing to varsity, junior varsity, junior college, four-year collegiate, and professional athlete training. Before enrolling at Voorhees University, he gained valuable coaching and training experience under the tutelage of former UNC point guard Donald Williams as an assistant coach. Throughout this time frame, Coach Roundtree was afforded the privilege of becoming deeply acquainted with various offensive strategies and gaining invaluable knowledge regarding the point zone defense technique from the late, legendary Coach Dean Smith. As the assistant men's basketball coach at Denmark Technical College (DTC) in South Carolina, Coach Roundtree spent a number of years. Later, he was appointed interim athletic director and head men's basketball coach at the junior college.

At present, Coach Roundtree occupies the position of Director of Intramural Sports at Voorhees University, where he has served for the past six seasons. Additionally, he serves as the assistant women's basketball coach, reporting to the distinguished Coach Edward Glove. Coach Roundtree supervises the strength and conditioning regimen for both the men's and women's basketball teams, where he plays a crucial role in player development in addition to his coaching duties. His unwavering commitment and diverse set of skills persistently exert a substantial influence within the domain of collegiate basketball.
