Ericka Sims

Ericka Sims joined Voorhees University in 2025 as Head Athletic Trainer for the Intercollegiate Athletics Department. In her role, she provides comprehensive medical care to all student-athletes, with an emphasis on injury and illness prevention, evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, and emergency response.

Prior to her arrival at Voorhees, Sims served as a Collegiate Athletic Trainer at Kennesaw State University, where she was responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-centered care to the softball program. She developed individualized rehabilitation plans, coordinated medical services, and guided student-athletes through successful return-to-play protocols following surgical procedures and other injuries.

Throughout her career, Sims has gained diverse experience across multiple sports and competitive levels, including:

  • USA Wrestling U16 & Junior Nationals

  • University of Illinois (wrestling, women’s volleyball, men’s gymnastics)

  • University of South Carolina Campus Recreation Clinical Facility

  • Public and private high school athletics

Sims earned a Master of Science in Athletic Training from the University of South Carolina and a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from Lander University.

She holds professional certifications and licensure including:

  • Board of Certification (BOC) for Athletic Trainers

  • Athletic Training Licensure through the South Carolina LLR and the Georgia Secretary of State

Outside of athletics, Sims enjoys outdoor activities such as camping and hiking, creating digital art, and spending time with family.
