Head Athletic Trainer, Intercollegiate Athletics Department
 

Ericka Sims joined Voorhees University in 2025 as the Head Athletic Trainer for the Intercollegiate Athletics Department. In this role, she provides comprehensive medical care to all student-athletes with emphasis and focus on injury and illness prevention, evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, and immediate emergency care.
 
Before arriving at Voorhees University, Sims served as Collegiate Athletic Trainer at Kennesaw State University, where She delivered high-quality, patient-centered medical care exclusively to softball student-athletes by developing individualized rehabilitation programs, advocating for optimal medical services and treatments, and guiding athletes through successful return-to-play protocols following surgery.
 
Throughout her career, Sims has experience with at a variety of different sports and levels of competition, including:
– USA Wrestling U16 & Junior Nationals
– University of Illinois (wrestling, women’s volleyball, men’s gymnastics)
– University of South Carolina Campus Recreation Clinical Facility 
– Public and private high schools 
 
Sims holds a Master’s degree in Athletic Training from the University of South Carolina, a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from Lander University, and is certified in:
– Athletic Training, Board of Certification for the Athletic Trainer
– Athletic Training Licensure, SC LLR and Georgia State Secretary
 
Outside of athletics, Sims enjoys activities outdoors like camping and hiking along with creating digital art and spending time with family.
