In a challenging conference basketball showdown, the Voorhees University Tigers fell to a tough 58-87 defeat against the Fisk University Bulldogs this past Thursday. Despite playing in Nashville, TN, the Tigers could not sustain momentum to overcome their opponents' robust strategy and execution.
During the first half of the game, the Tigers struggled to keep pace, trailing the Bulldogs by a score of 37-47. The second half intensified as Voorhees University tried to bridge the gap, but the Bulldogs capitalized on their lead, extending it to secure a convincing victory.
Top scorers for the Tigers were
Omari Bryson and
Keshawn Evans, each contributing 15 points. Evans stood out not just in scoring but also defensively, grabbing 13 rebounds and seizing 4 steals. Additionally,
Keyshaun Fleetion contributed significantly with 6 points and a game-high 5 assists.
Despite the loss, the Tigers displayed notable individual efforts across the board.
Bryce Wilson added 5 points and led with 2 assists, showing promise in facilitating play.
Xavier Finney also matched Wilson's assist record, helping the team's playmaking efforts with 4 assists.
Moving forward, the Tigers aim to regroup and refocus as they prepare to travel to Spartanburg, SC, to face Spartanburg Methodist College on December 10. With a current season record of 1-5 overall and 0-3 in conference play, Voorhees University is keen on turning their performance around in upcoming contests.
