In a challenging regular season basketball meeting at Bandy Gym on January 28, 2025, the Voorhees University Tigers succumbed to a powerful #13 Dalton State Roadrunners, concluding the game with a final score of 63-108. Despite an energetic start, the Tigers faced difficulties as the game progressed, unable to contain the aggressive play of the Roadrunners.
The game started off promising for Voorhees with the team initially taking the lead, setting an assertive pace spearheaded by notable performances from their leading scorers.
Omari Bryson led the individual efforts with 12 points, while
Umar Lawson added a significant 10 points. Despite their initial lead, Voorhees struggled with turnovers, which allowed Dalton State to capitalize and extend their lead, particularly in the second half. The halftime score line stood at 35-45, tilting in favor of Dalton State, which they expanded impressively in the subsequent periods.
Other notable contributions for Voorhees came from
Keyshaun Fleetion with 7 points, 3 rebounds, and a steal,
Daethan Harris contributing another 7 points and 3 assists, and
Umar Lawson additionally pulling down 4 rebounds. The collective effort, however, was insufficient to counter Dalton State's dynamic play and sharp shooting.
Looking forward, the Voorhees Tigers aim to regroup and refocus for their next encounter against Stillman College at Leonard E Dawson on February 1, 2025. With a current season record of 5-14, including 3-9 in their conference, the Tigers are eager to refine their strategies and come back stronger. This upcoming game presents another opportunity for Voorhees to turn their season around and gather some much-needed wins.
