Betty R. Davis, a longtime resident of Denmark, South Carolina, is a proud alumna and dedicated servant-leader whose impact on Voorhees athletics spans four decades.
Davis earned her Associate’s Degree in Secretarial Science in 1966 and later completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration in 1980 from then-Voorhees College.
She devoted 40 years of service to Voorhees, holding numerous positions across campus including Mail Clerk, Accounting Clerk, Bookstore Manager, Cashier, and Transcript Coordinator. However, the role she cherished most was Coordinator of Athletics Support Services — a position in which she became the backbone of daily athletic department operations.
As Coordinator, Davis managed essential administrative functions, including business correspondence and recruitment mailings, processing requisitions, overseeing facility coordination, organizing department events, duplicating game programs, coordinating homecoming activities, monitoring student-athlete academic progress, supervising study hall, and assisting the Athletic Director with NAIA, conference, and institutional documentation. Her dedication and attention to detail helped ensure the smooth and professional operation of the athletics program.
Davis frequently traveled with various teams and attended conference events, further demonstrating her commitment to supporting student-athletes both on and off campus. Even in retirement, she remains an active supporter of Voorhees, regularly attending athletic competitions and alumni events.
In recognition of her unwavering service and lasting contributions, Davis was inducted into the Voorhees University Hall of Fame on November 8, 2013 — a fitting tribute to a legacy defined by loyalty, excellence, and Tiger pride.
