Shawn Walker began his collegiate coaching career at Voorhees in 1997, leading the Tigers Men's Basketball program for four seasons. During his tenure, Walker's teams achieved notable success, including two regular season EIAC Championships (1998, 2000), an EIAC Tournament Championship (1999), and 81 total victories. His accomplishments earned him the EIAC Coach of the Year award for the 1998-1999 season.

Walker's coaching journey began after a four-year playing career at Elizabeth City State University. He started as a graduate assistant at Slippery Rock University in 1995, then returned to Elizabeth City State as an assistant coach before leading the Tigers. His extensive coaching career includes roles at Elizabeth City State University, Grambling State University, Shaw University, and currently, Allen University.

With over 300 career victories and 16 seasons of double-digit wins, Walker's impact is profound. At Allen, his leadership has already led to a record-setting 15-win season and the program's first SIAC Tournament victory. Allen University Director of Athletics Jasher Cox emphasizes Walker's remarkable achievements and enduring legacy.
