Jeffery (Pendergrass) Osborne, a native of Rock Hill, South Carolina, emerged as one of the most accomplished sprinters in Voorhees track & field history.

Osborne began his track and field career in high school as a way to improve his performance on the football field. His natural speed quickly set him apart, particularly after an impressive showing in the 400 meters at the York County Regional Meet. He went on to capture victories in the 400M and earn strong finishes at the South Carolina state championships, establishing himself as an elite sprinter.

Originally recruited to Winston-Salem State University, Osborne’s scholarship opportunity was impacted during the institution’s probationary period. He subsequently continued his collegiate career at Voorhees College under the direction of Coach Garon Jackson a decision that proved transformative.

At Voorhees, Osborne specialized in the 200 meters and cemented his place in program history. In 2010, he captured both the NAIA Indoor National Championship and the NAIA Outdoor National Championship in the 200M a remarkable double-title accomplishment. He also established the Voorhees College school record in the 200M dash.

In recognition of his achievements and impact, Osborne was named the institution’s first Distinguished Athlete Award recipient in 2011.

Following his collegiate success, Osborne continued to compete at the international level and participated in the 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials, representing the sustained excellence that began at Voorhees.

Today, Osborne serves as a Senior Auditor/Consultant while also working as a personal trainer and youth track coach. His continued involvement in athletics reflects his lifelong commitment to performance, mentorship, and inspiring the next generation of athletes.
