Shawn Walker began his collegiate head coaching career at Voorhees University in 1997, guiding the Tigers men’s basketball program for four seasons and ushering in a period of competitive success.

During his tenure at Voorhees, Walker led the Tigers to:

  • Two EIAC Regular Season Championships (1998, 2000)

  • One EIAC Tournament Championship (1999)

  • 81 total victories

His leadership during the 1998–1999 campaign earned him EIAC Coach of the Year honors, highlighting the program’s growth under his direction.

Walker’s coaching journey began following a four-year playing career at Elizabeth City State University. He first entered the collegiate coaching ranks as a graduate assistant at Slippery Rock University in 1995, before returning to Elizabeth City State as an assistant coach. His success there led to his appointment as head coach at Voorhees.

Over the course of his distinguished career, Walker has held coaching positions at Elizabeth City State University, Grambling State University, Shaw University, and currently serves at Allen University.

With more than 300 career victories and 16 seasons of double-digit wins, Walker’s impact on collegiate basketball is substantial. At Allen University, he has already led the program to a record-setting 15-win season and secured the school’s first SIAC Tournament victory — milestones that further demonstrate his ability to build and elevate programs.
