Elnora Jeter, a native of Union, South Carolina, is one of the most dynamic point guards to compete in the history of Voorhees University women’s basketball.
Jeter first gained statewide recognition in March 1989 as a member of Union High School’s AAAA State Girls Basketball Championship team. Following graduation, she signed to play at Anderson College, where she quickly established herself as one of the top guards in the state. Head Coach Susie Gardner praised her skill and quickness, calling her “probably the best point guard in the state.” During her third season as a starter, Jeter averaged 12.1 points and 4.8 rebounds in 33 games for the Yellow Jackets.
In 1992, Jeter transferred to Voorhees and immediately made an impact, earning NAIA All-District Six Top Newcomer honors. Her leadership and performance peaked during the 1994–1995 season, when the 5-foot-9 guard was named Most Valuable Player of the Eastern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (EIAC) Tournament. That year marked a historic milestone, as Voorhees captured its first-ever EIAC Women’s Basketball Tournament Championship.
Jeter’s national recognition followed in 1996 when she was named NAIA Division I Women’s National Player of the Week after an outstanding all-around performance against Barber-Scotia College. In that contest, she recorded 30 points, 13 rebounds, six assists, two blocked shots, and seven steals — a testament to her complete game.
That same season, Jeter was honored as the EIAC Women’s Player of the Year, further cementing her legacy as one of the program’s premier student-athletes.
Through her leadership, versatility, and competitive excellence, Elnora Jeter helped elevate Voorhees women’s basketball and remains a celebrated figure in program history.
