Voorhees University

While at Voorhees, Michael Cheaney helped lead the Tigers to 72 wins, a conference tournament title, and a trip to the NAlA National Tournament.

Voorhees collected 16 wins in Cheaney's first season at the helm in 2010-2011, a mark that was nearly triple what the program had posted a year before his arrival.

The 2011-2012 season saw even more progress, as the Tigers sprinted to a 22-9 overall mark to collect the team's first national ranking in more than 10 years.

Voorhees continued its successful climb under Cheaney's direction in year three, as the squad won the Association of Independent Institutions conference tournament and compiled a 23-12 record across the 2012-2013 season that culminated with a spot in the national tournament. The 2013-2014 campaign saw the Tigers pick up 11 more wins, including a pair of victories against Southern States Athletic Conference foe Brewton-Parker, as well as an 89-84 win against Talladega College which finished No. 11 in the final NAIA Coaches' Top 25 Poll.

Before joining the coaching ranks, Cheaney was a standout student-athlete at Kentucky Wesleyan University. During his playing career, Cheaney earned the Senior Award as the Panthers' outstanding athlete, set the school record for field goal percentage, and was named the team's Most Improved Player. Along with spending the last 10 seasons patrolling the bench for the Warhawks, along with his four-year stint at Voorhees, Cheaney's career includes stops at DePauw University, Wheeling Jesuit University in West Virginia, Wilberforce University in Wilberforce, Ohio, the University of Central Arkansas, and Livingstone College in Salisbury, N.C.
