Born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida, Adrian West attended William M.

Raines High School before pursuing higher education at Florida A&M

University (FAMU), where he was a key player in the Rattler Baseball Program. His achievements at FAMU include being named Most Valuable Player in 1991 and earning All-Tournament Team honors.

West began his collegiate coaching career at Edward Waters College in 1995 and joined Voorhees College as head baseball coach in 1996. Under his leadership, the baseball program achieved notable success, including EIAC championships in 2001 and 2002, and an EIAC Tournament Championship in 2006. His commitment to his players' education and development was evident, with over 85% of his players graduating.

West's contributions to baseball extended to various professional organizations, including the American Baseball Coaches Association and the Black Coaches Association. Recognized for his achievements, he was named co-staff of the year at Voorhees University for the 2020-2021 academic year.
